Turns out, when Edvard Munch’s 1983 oeuvre “The Scream” is reframed in a modern context, it’s almost indistinguishable from the original. The figure in the painting, appearing to emit a visceral shriek, was meant to depict the archetypal modern man: riddled with paranoia, fear, and anxiety. And though this figure is largely devoid of sex or any defining human characteristics, when replaced with the boyish, screaming Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone, and printed onto this 100% cotton shirt, it barely looks any different. Equally as clever as the name Edvaulay Munchkin is the brand behind this t-shirt, Bottle of Smoke—a self-professed “independent t-shirt thing based in Bristol, England” who fancies themselves “the future of fashion history.” All they ask of their customers are two simple precautions: “Do not iron directly on to print because that would be stupid. Don’t take on two burglars alone either.” Duly noted.
